Hyperspace Clearance

Scroll

Dan Webb’s debut EP, Capitulation, boldly demonstrated that rock music doesn’t need a guitar to pack a punch. One year later, Hyperspace Clearance builds on this mission with less to prove but a stronger purpose: to expand Webb’s sonic landscape and push his songwriting into new territory.

Recorded at Melbourne’s famed Sing Sing Recording Studios with his returning lineup—drummer Josiah Bradshaw, bassist Luke Ebert, and engineer Matt Voigt—Hyperspace Clearance is a high-energy, keyboard-driven exploration of alternative rock.

Influenced by The Beatles and Stevie Wonder, Webb’s compositions are rich with melody and layered intricacy, sometimes stacking up to six keyboards on a single track.

The EP opens with “Way Out”, a dynamic blend of punchy keyboard riffs, infectious hooks, and Webb's charismatic vocals, capturing themes of lust and opportunity. On “Weathered Mind”, Webb introduces more textured melodies, weaving together vibrant keyboard layers that underscore lyrics reflecting on personal loss and change. “These Walls” captures a swirling, vintage atmosphere with its deep bass groove and inventive breakdowns, while “Weekends” rounds out the EP with a funk edge, changing tempo and rhythm with thrilling unpredictability.
Throughout, Webb’s technical prowess and evolving style shine, marking Hyperspace Clearance as a fresh, guitar-free take on rock that’s bold, dynamic, and distinctly his own.
